A week with Charles Poliquin (part 1) By MaXimus Mark
I’m back from nine full on days with the world’s most successful strength coach, Charles Poliquin.
If you have never heard of Charles Poliquin, he is the trainer behind 18 Olympic gold medalists, royalty and numerous professional teams across all sports.
His books and methods have made a big impact on my training so getting to spend 9 days with him in person was an early Christmas!
I have complied a list of the top five things I learnt during those nine days, lets start with:
1. How to Instantly Improve Flexibility
I learnt specific PNF stretching techniques that improved my hamstring flexibility by at least 35 degrees within minutes and that was WITHOUT stretching the hamstrings!
What this highlighted was you are only as strong as the weakest link. This is something I have been aware of for years; however it holds true for everything… even flexibility!
The take home lesson is to ensure ALL exercises, stretching, deep tissue work and training is balanced. If it isn’t, you’re short changing results.
2. Australia should be renamed “Oestrogen Land”
Charles has travelled the world and has taken the body-fat and bio-signatures of literally hundreds of people across the world…
He told us that Aussies have the fattest quads and hamstrings which is due to our oestrogenic environment.
So what the hell does that mean?
It means that we spray more oestrogenic toxins per capita than anywhere else in the world.
So what do you do?
Find a Bio-Signature practitioner to help you choose the best supplements that can protect you from this growing problem. More on that in a minute but first…

(The following I did not learn from Charles, its my own unique style of ranting…)
There are less and less males being born each year. If you hear anyone disagree with the stats you can bet they are referring to China.
Why?
Because in China they still have more males than females. However it has nothing to do with environmental oestrogens and everything to do with social factors (social pressures to have a male child.)
Everywhere else in the world the number of males is declining. This is not an ‘amazing’ phenomena. God is not filling the world with more females so it’s balanced to bring ‘love and harmony’ as some personal development morons would have you believe.
It’s due to the crap we eat and the toxic environment in which we live. Its not divine intervention – its human greed.
And by the way, this isn’t only affecting humans, it’s affecting the animal kingdom world-wide. Across all animal species there are less males. The average sperm count for men in the 1960’s was 80,000 now its just 20,000… I’m no mathematician, but even my non-english speaking Italian grandmother in her 80’s knows, that’s a significant drop in swimmers.
So what can I do?
As a trained Bio-signature CE practitioner I would recommend you come and see me one on one for a full consult. Instead of boring you with the details, lets just say I’ll perform ‘nutritional forensics’ and tell you the why, what and HOW to get the body you want.

would love to know more about the PNF stretching technique. I assume it is different from normal PNF stretching as you said you increased range without stretching?
